Fire Expo

Saturday definitely had a theme. We started out with a birthday party for one of Kyle's classmates at the local firehouse. It was pretty cool (even for the parents). We got to listen to a safety talk and tour the firehouse and see where the firefighters live including seeing the fire pole. Then the kids got to climb in the fire truck and one of the fire fighters put on all the gear (including the mask) so the kids could see him and touch all the equipment and hopefully not be frightened in a real emergency.

When we got home we headed up to our local Fire Expo. The fire fighter training facility is up the street from us and they run a free expo every year where they do demonstrations and bring in firetrucks for the kids to ride and climb on. The S.W.A.T team is there along with several rescue units including a Dive rescue team, paramedics, and several local fire departments including the airport fire unit and the huge ladder truck from downtown Annapolis. The demos are cool and it is neat to see everything they have.
